Since first graduating from the Elder Conservatorium, Adelaide and then Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Brisbane, Manfred has been active over many years as a performer, conductor, assessor, adjudicator and teacher.

He has appeared in numerous roles since undertaking further studies in the USA with Daniel Ferro of the prestigious Julliard School of Music: Germont (La Traviata) (Oz Opera), Valentin (Faust), Fiorello (Il Barbiere di Siviglia), Dr Bartolo (Il Barbiere di Siviglia and Schiarrone (Tosca), (Opera Queensland), Enrico (Lucia di Lammermoor) (Turin) (Papageno (Zauberflote), Leporello (Don Giovanni), Silvio (I Pagliacci) and Schaunard (La Boheme) (Princeton Opera, USA), Zuniga (Carmen) (State Opera South Australia)

Local appearances with Melbourne Opera and Melbourne City Opera include the highly acclaimed Barber of Seville (Dr Bartolo), Der Freischutz (Cuno), Il Corsaro (Seid), La Traviata (Germont Senior), Carmen (Zuniga), Rigoletto (Rigoletto), Madame Butterfly (General Bonz), Pearl Fishers (Zurga), Le Nozze di Figaro (Count Almaviva), Fidelio (Don Fernando) Nabucco (Nabucco) (Heidelberg Choral Society), Miles Banter QC (Spring Festival Pt Fairy), Alfio (Cavalleria Rusticanna) (Melbourne City Opera)

Manfred also maintains a busy concert schedule performing principal roles with The Victorian Opera, The Queensland Philharmonic Choir, The Melbourne Philharmonic Choir, The Heidelberg Choral Society, The Ballarat Choral Society, ‘More Than Opera’, ‘Opera in The Park’, St Paul’s Occasional Choir, The Star Chorale and Gisborne Singers.
